This 2-day itinerary will provide you with a rich cultural and historical experience in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Some of the exciting stops include the Bobiri Forest Reserve, a beautiful reserve home to a wide variety of plants and animal species including over 400 species of butterflies. Ntonso craft village is famous for its traditional Adinkra printing. Adinkra symbols are stamped onto fabric using special dyes made from tree bark. The kente Cloth is a colorful and intricately woven fabric made from silk or cotton. At Bonwire, we witness the traditional hand-weaving process by skilled artisans showcasing their craftmanship. At Bonwire Kente Village renaming ceremonies can be arranged at an extra cost.

The Manhyia palace holds great historical significance as it serves as the official residence of the Asantehene, the traditional ruler of the Ashanti Kingdom. Tourists will get the chance to visit three other museums to gain insights into the history and traditions of the Ashanti people. Okomfo Anokye sword site is a cultural site of great historical importance to the Ashanti people. It is believed Okomfo Anokye a fetish priest used spiritual powers to plant a sword into the ground. This sword is considered sacred and represents the Unity and strength of the Ashanti people. Lastly, Kejetia market, a bustling and vibrant market believed to be one of the largest outdoor markets in West Africa. Practice your bargaining skills in this open market as you interact with local vendors and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere.

Day 1:

  1. Depart early to Kumasi in the morning, we visit the Bobiri Forest Reserve to enjoy the natural beauty, walk along the canopy walkway, and explore the diverse flora and fauna.
  2. Continue the day with a visit to the Bonwire Kente Village, where you can see the intricate process of Kente cloth weaving.
  3. Afterward, head to the Ntonso Craft Village, where you can witness traditional Adinkra cloth printing and even try your hand at creating your own designs.
  4. Enroute to Kumasi we stop at Gyamadudu museum. We learn more about the rich history of the Ashanti people and see displayed artifacts and regalia.
  5. Spend the evening exploring the vibrant culture and history of Kumasi at the Manhyia Palace which was once the residence of the Asantehene (Ashanti king).
  6. Relax and have dinner

Day 2:

  1. Begin the second day by visiting the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, where you can see the legendary sword in the ground and learn about its significance in Ashanti history.
  2. Next, head to the Prempeh Museum to dive deeper into the history and artifacts of the Ashanti Empire.
  3. We make our way to the Armed Forces Museum to explore the rich military history of the region.
  4. Lunch
  5. After the museum, explore the bustling and colorful Kejetia Market, where you can shop for souvenirs and experience the vibrant local market atmosphere.
  6. Head back to Accra
